Booster Club January Newsletter 2000
Dear Wrestling Parents,
Happy New Year to you and your families. I hope everyone has a very healthy and prosperous year in 2000. It certainly has been a good start to the year for the wrestling program. The varsity and JV teams beat Penfield and has wrestled extremely well in its three tournaments this season. Congratulations to the coaches and of course the wrestlers.
All of our Booster Club plans appear to be on track. Last month we bought t-shirts for all the wrestlers and sport bags for the new varsity wrestlers. This month we will cover the costs for Winterfest. We are still collecting Booster Club dues from anyone who wishes to pay. This will entitle you to count this year towards the Senior Scholarship the Booster Club awards. This is a key part of our funding to work with during this year.
We have started a candy sale as another key fundraiser. We are asking each varsity, JV and modified wrestler to sell one box of candy. If anyone can sell more please help us and call the Cunninghams (223-4174).
The key activities this month include Modified Night on Tuesday January 18 against East Rochester, 7 p.m. at FHS and Winterfest. Next month we will host Senior Night on Wednesday February 9 at the match against Brighton. We will also hold a season ending pizza party for the Modified Teams.
Winterfest is set for Sunday January 23, starting around noon at the East Lodge in Mendon Ponds Park. For those of you who havent been to Winterfest before, it is an annual event that brings the wrestlers, coaches, and families together for a fun-filled cabin party. Everyone in the family is invited. We are asking the parents of the Varsity wrestlers to bring a main dish, such as chili, pasta, salad, etc. The parents of the JV wrestlers can bring a dessert such as brownies, rice krispie treats or cookies, and the parents of the Modified wrestlers can bring munchies like chips, pretzels, popcorn, etc. The Booster Club will provide hot dogs, rolls, hot drinks, soda, plates and silverware. If Mother Nature cooperates, bring your sleds, tubes, and winter games. This is always a great time for everyone.
People continue to visit the Fairport Wrestling web site. Be sure to let families, friends, and alumni out of town know they can follow the teams success. The web site can be found at members.tripod.com/fptwrestling. We still could use someone to write articles for the JV and Modified teams. If anyone wants to try his or her hand as a sportswriter, we can help start your career.
This month we will begin to plan for the concessions at the Sectionals February 18-19. We would like everyone who can help us plan and solicit contributions for the concessions at the Sectionals to let Scott Cunningham or me know. Thanks for your support so far this season. Lets continue to make this season as much fun as possible for the wrestlers, the coaches, and ourselves.
